Bachelors of Arts from Virginia Tech in International Relations with a focus on History and Spanish. (2012) Certificate study of Russian language: Orenburg State University (2015-2016) Certificate study of Russian language: Saint Petersburg Polytechnic State University (2016-2017) within the "Russian as a foreign language" department.
Experience
With a personal interest in Russian language, I have spent the last 5 years traveling to Russia and the past 2 years full time living and studying language. Having learned Russian in the Russian language, I understand and have first hand experience with the common pitfalls of english speakers learning Russian as a second language. While living in Russia, I informally tutored English lessons, helping with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, sentence construction and conversational speaking. This has given me both an experience in tutoring as well as helped me further understand Russian grammar and construction particularly as it compares to English. With a background in International Relations and History I completed the history portion of my degree with a 4.0. Including U.S. History, Russian History, Spanish History, World History, Government and U.S. Government History, African History, etc. Since living in Russia, I have furthered a personal study (and enrolled in courses here from the Russian perspective) of WWI, WWII and Cold War History. Have a long passion in History as well as two years of Russian emersion, I would be excited to help others improve and master these subjects.
