Private tutor in Charlottesville, VA
Education
Eastman School of Music - Bachelors, Music Composition , The University of Michigan - PHD, Music Composition
Experience
I attended the University of Rochester, where I earned a bachelor's degree in music composition from the Eastman School of Music. Keeping music as my focus of studies, I went to Yale University and received a master's degree. I then went on to the University of Michigan, where I completed my doctorate. My teaching experience includes learners as young as kindergarten to senior citizens who are interested in learning something new. Not only have I taught students how to play the piano, but I have tutored in music theory, literature, foreign language, and history. I have taught music theory to advanced high school students, as well as history and musical composition to university students. In addition, I tutor Spanish, my first language, to students attending a private tutoring company. What I love about teaching is how it allows me to coach students, helping them discover that they are exceptionally talented and have the capability to do great things. Every student already has the tools needed to learn, and it is the teacher who shows them how to use those tools. I love helping students navigate through a new language, discuss the details of film and music appreciation, and analyze the meaning behind art.Along with teaching, I am an accomplished musician. I am a conductor who manages a large number of musicians. I truly love being involved in music.
