I've taught full classes in programming and robotics for three years now for students 8-14. I've been an informal substitute teacher in my high school (now formal) for web design and database classes and have written a small textbook to teach the NXTG programming language.

Over the last seven years I've helped design and run summer camps ranging from bible school camps to lego robotics competitions. I also mentor robotics teams and groups interested in science and technology.
I have experience tutoring students with mild autism, ADD, ADHD, and am employed at the Rochester Institute of Technology to be a notetaker for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Everything that I've listed above has been done as unpaid volunteer work. I genuinely enjoy spending time working with students because it offers an opportunity to change both their life and mine. I've found that it's much easier to approach and play around in a subject that you're confident about because you're relieved of the inhibitions of fear and uncertainty. In subjects like math and science which follow formulas it's very helpful to have someone tell you that Step 1 is missing something instead of making all the way to Step 8 before realizing it. The idea of merging play and studying is very important to many of the subjects I've tutored in the past and especially helpful for students that have trouble concentrating. I really love what I do and I hope I can inspire others to as well.
HobbiesAdventuring. Every Friday I get into my car with some friends and we drive in a random direction until we're somewhere we haven't been before, try new restaurants, go to coffee shops, and seek out the beautiful things right around the corner. I go hiking, enjoy creating video games, building and repairing computers, biking, cooking, and volunteering. I build robots, ice skate, and enjoy going laser tagging with my ten year old brother.
