Experience
Why I want to tutor: I'm a research scientist, and I love both lab work and teaching. My current position lacks teaching duties, and tutoring will allow me to keep up with one of the most rewarding aspects of science - witnessing others learn! Experience: As a graduate teaching assistant at UVa, I taught Cell & Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, and Organismal Biology lab. As a college student, I assisted instructors in Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology labs. I have extensive experience meeting with students one-on-one to set goals, cover material, prepare for tests & quizzes, write research papers, and conduct independent experimental research. Awards/Honors/Scores: The Seven Society Graduate Fellowship for Superb Teaching (Honoree), 2009. Candidates for this award are nominated by their former students. William H. Kepner Award in Recognition of Distinguished Teaching in Biology, 2010. This award is given by the Biology faculty. Phi Beta Kappa. 1340 combined SAT score; 780 V / 560 M.
